BASIC OIL AND GAS FORMS PROGRAM (NKF01)

History of the Oil and Gas Forms Program

1989:    Kanes Forms first published its oil and gas forms in 1989 in a one (1) volume, loose leaf binder, as Kanes Manual of Oil and Gas Forms.

1991:    Additional forms were developed and the Kanes Manual was expanded to two (2) volumes.  The forms in the original 1989 version and the 1991 supplement were purchased and used by attorneys, landmen, and landowners, in all oil and gas producing states.

1998:    The forms in Kanes Manual of Oil and Gas Forms were revised, approximately 100 new forms were developed, and all were included in Version 1 of the Kanes Oil and Gas Forms Program.  (Kanes Forms no longer makes forms available in printed form.)

This Program provided a variety of forms in a word processing text format, for use in oil and gas transactions that could be revised, edited, and adapted to the user’s particular transaction needs.  In addition to those that had purchased and use  Kanes Manual, landmen (independent and company), oil and gas attorneys, landowners, and mineral and royalty owners from more than 30 states purchased and use Version 1.0 of the Kanes Oil and Gas Forms Program.

Customers’ requests for additional forms have led to the development of new forms included in other Kanes Forms Programs.

In 2001 and 2002, in response for demands for more types of forms, Kanes introduced the Field Landman Forms Program.

2003:    Version 2 of the Oil and Gas Forms Program was released.  It contains over 400 forms.

As additional Kanes Forms Programs were developed, improvements and new functions were added to the Programs released after 1998.  All of these revisions were incorporated into Version 2 of the Oil and Gas Forms Program.  In addition, Version 2:

•    Includes several forms not available in Version 1.

•    Divides the forms into more topical Sections to make them easier to locate.

•    Provided all forms in both MSWord and RTF text format.

2011:    Forms in the original Oil and Gas Forms and Field Landman Forms Programs were combined (duplicates eliminated) and this Program now:

•    Is available on a CD or USB Drive.

•    Priced less than the 2009 price for the separate Oil and Gas Forms and Field Landman Forms Programs.
